Topic:  Understanding Project Schedules

Speaker:  Bruce Jordan, Partner, Arrowhead Consulting

Topic Description:  How do you tell when someone is lying about their project schedule (assuming that their pants aren't on fire)?  Tired of trying to figure out what to focus on for lessons learned at the end of a project?  Trying to find out where all the "time" went on your project?  This talk will focus on best practices of scheduling projects and specifically what those practices should look like in both Primavera and Microsoft Project.  This will help you identify trends of vendors falling behind, finding schedule or project "padding" and making sure the whole scope and nothing but the scope is being handled – all by looking at the schedule.

About The Speaker:

Bruce Jordan specializes in project management, business analysis, training, scheduling, public speaking, and IT/Project Controls consulting. He is a Project Management Institute (PMI)-certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Green Belt, and holds a variety of technical certifications from Microsoft, Novell, and Pervasive.  Bruce has spent more than two decades in the technology industry and more than 15 years in project management and currently works heavily in the Oil and Gas industry as a master scheduler as well as an engineering and construction project manager and management trainer. Within this industry, Bruce has provided project control guidance and created scheduling, cost, and document control best practices for large midstream oil and gas companies. He has also worked on projects to combine more than 17 vendor/contractor schedules into one master scheduler and has managed more than $1 billion in construction schedules across multiple vendors and EPC companies.  He also has vast experience creating customized training materials and courses for diverse audiences that transcend industries.  Bruce has a proven track record for taking projects that are at risk of failure, getting them back on track and completed successfully through creating cohesive and collaborative teams, finding and managing stakeholders at all levels, and closely managing third-party vendors. When not saving the world via project management or project controls, Bruce can be found playing trumpet for the local Blaskapelle, the community band of the German American Society of Tulsa, or threatening family members with getting matching tattoos with his 1 yr. old granddaughter.
