- PMI OKC Board

Topic:  Systems Engineering

Speaker:  Casey Medina, Principal, StudioSE Ltd.

Topic Description:  Goin’ Whole Hog: Borrowing Systems Engineering Tools for Better Project Management.

Join me in exploring how fundamental concepts in Systems Engineering can drive a deeper understanding of your project.  Deployed correctly, these concepts ensure all our team members understand their roles and, most importantly, how their contributions help achieve the mission.  We will discuss a simple, robust, process that can be deployed on every project in any industry that creates compelling results, encourages traceability, and adds intense value to your stakeholders.

About The Speaker:

Casey Medina currently practices and teaches systems engineering across industries, including the medical device, aerospace, and defense industries. He is a dynamic speaker and owns Studio SE, a Systems Engineering training and consulting firm located in the Denver area.  He has extensive experience deploying and training Model-Based Systems Engineering, requirements engineering, human factors, quality engineering, risk management, and medical device design control.  Casey has adapted Systems Engineering tools and techniques to analyze social and natural systems.  He is working to identify, analyze, and address social issues that lead to homelessness to help organizations provide targeted, customized, aid to help individuals overcome the challenges that lead to experiencing homelessness.

Casey infuses practical experience into his training programs.  He has multiple publications and has been invited as a guest lecturer at the University of Denver, Dublin City University, and the University of Colorado.  Additionally, he has presented to numerous trade and professional organizations due to his pragmatic approach to design.  Casey also serves as the lead instructor for the Caltech MBSE certificate program.
